The Kid From DC
This is Kid, one of our most beloved horses of all times. Kid belonged to our daughter Lori Lewis Rice and passed away in 1992. We still cry thinking about him. Kid won 14 Racking Horse World Championships, he won every Juvenile championship that exists and was named Juvenile Horse of the Year from across the United States in 1985.
This was the last time Kid was shown, he won the Juv. Aux. World Championship with a triple first place tie, this is at the barn and we sat Amanda on him for a picture. Kid not only loved our kids and his trainer Roger, he LOVED Pepsi and got one after every win, he wouldn't go get his ribbon unless it was first! If he got a lower placing, the trainer always had to go in and get it, he would rear and throw a fit...go figure!
Lori was 10 1/2 yrs old in this picture. Lori and Kid were the 1985 Juvenile World Grand Champions, Lori is the youngest juvenile to ever win this class and this was their victory pass.
The victory pass from when Kid was the Aged Geldings Racking Horse World Champion in 1989, that's our other daughter Amanda riding with Roger.
Honey Greenhaw Stivers, one of Lori's best friends wrote this lovely poem the day after Kid passed away at age 26. In Loving Memory Of The Kid
